AudioFormat

Enum AudioFormat

Source
pub enum AudioFormat {
    Pcm16,
    Opus,
}
Expand description

Audio encoding formats supported by the Gemini Live API.

Variants§

§

Pcm16

Raw 16-bit little-endian PCM.

§

Opus

Opus-encoded audio.

Implementations§

Source§

impl AudioFormat

Source

pub fn mime_type(&self) -> &'static str

MIME type string for this format, as the realtime input contract needs it.

The rate parameter on PCM is required, not decorative. The Live API documents realtime input as audio/pcm;rate=16000, and a bare audio/pcm is accepted by the socket and then silently transcribed as nothing: the session stays open, no error is returned, the input transcript comes back empty and the model never answers.

That is exactly how this was found. Every audio test in the workspace drove sessions with send_text, so nothing exercised this path until a test fed real synthesised speech and got a 94-second turn with an empty transcript back.
